Expanding Bel Canto Canon Through the Innate Pedagogic Fluency of Latin American Spanish Art Song.

The Canciones Project was conceived in 2020 as a response to the perceived lack of Latin American art song representation in the music programs of the United States. It is an education based non-profit organization of San Antonio, Texas.

On this website, you will find music scores, IPA transcriptions, pedagogically informed performance recordings, and style guides. Our mission is to engage students and teachers of voice through culturally responsive pedagogy and allow this diverse repertoire to resound across borders.

Canciones Project has traveled throughout Latin America and the US: interviewing specialists, performing art song recitals, giving masterclasses and lectures, etc. We view our travels as an opportunity for cultural exchange: an opportunity to share music and build community through music and musicological studies. We hope to create a lasting and positive influence on the people we meet along the way. Our lecture topics range from vocal technique practices - vocal acoustic science lectures. Our masterclasses are technique, style and language centered, and our recitals highlight what we feel can be culturally enriching for the people and the places we visit. We have given all Latin Music recitals in the USA and all US Music in Latin America. We welcome cultural exchange as we learn and grow in this field as US singers and teachers.

If you would like for us to visit your organization or school, let us know. We are excited and happy to share this music with the world.
